65 Years in the Community
Otto’s: A Family Legacy Rooted in Hard Work and Community
More than 65 years ago, Otto and Ida left post-war Europe to start a new life in Canada. Arriving with little more than their trade skills and determination, Otto drew on his training as an electrician in Germany to begin repairing electrical equipment for friends and neighbors. He soon opened a small repair shop specializing in motors, pumps, and home electronics — the kind of practical services that kept the community running.
From those humble beginnings, Otto built a trusted local business known for quality, honesty, and craftsmanship. Ida worked tirelessly alongside him, helping grow the business while raising their family and building a new life in a new country.
Their son Paul grew up in the shop, learning the same values of hard work and service that guided his parents. What began as a small repair shop has since evolved into Otto’s Home Appliance — a long-standing family business built on care, skill, and a genuine commitment to community.
